Separate camera classification, notification, evidence, and alarm response
A person, animal, vehicle, package, or motion label is a camera classification. It is not a direct door-contact state, a local siren, monitoring-center receipt, emergency calling, or dispatch. Record each stage separately:

Install, name, and test one camera at a time
- Mark the required physical route and privacy boundary before drilling, wiring, or accepting a wide view.
- Install power, network, mount, Home hub, and any local or cloud storage according to current maker instructions and published limits.

- Run the documented power-loss path. Record camera, router, access point, Home hub, local storage, and warning runtime separately.
- Fill or safely simulate the documented storage limit. Record overwrite behavior, full-storage alert, retention, playback, export, and recovery.
- Check time after internet loss, power loss, daylight-saving changes, router replacement, camera restart, and Home hub restart. A wrong timestamp can make an otherwise clear clip difficult to use.
Audit every viewer and removal route
List Home members, camera permissions, vendor-app users, active sessions where visible, invitations, shared links, television routes, voice routes, automations, service accounts, support access, and recovery methods. Do not treat one shared owner login as user management.
- Add one temporary viewer and record what that person can see, change, play, export, share, invite, reset, and recover.
- Remove the viewer from Apple Home, the vendor route, shared links, television and voice routes, automations, support records, and recovery methods.
- Prove old sessions, invitations, links, recordings, downloads, alerts, and recovery methods fail before handover is accepted.
